Senior Night

Game 15: Senior Night at 6:30 vs. Bishop Miege at Home (0-0)

Well, we began the day choosing not to flip-flop the JV and the varsity games. Most everyone else in the area did. That decision guaranteed we would play virtually half a match.

Miege did a great job of limiting our attack. They played an old fashioned sweeper quite deep. We wasted much of the half attacking up the middle of the field. Their defense held tight.

Eventually, we did get Grace wider, and with that came 4 first-half corners and 3-4 more balls across the box. We, however, did not get enough numbers in the box on time to frame the goal properly. So what dangerous balls we did have did not have anyone on the other end of them.

Probably our best opportunity of the night came on a nice build among Gabi Cox and Leah Holton that found Trinity taking a touch into the 6-box before shooting at the keeper.

So, we would have had to do a better job in the second half or the score just might have stayed 0-0 for the night, even if we could have played more.

We did get to move to the auxiliary gym after the refs officially called the game to finish celebrating our three seniors—Kyli, Bella, and Meg.

Mrs. Kemp and her crew did a great job of laying out a great spread of food, setting up a gift table and having a cool video (Trinity made that). That was a nice compliment to the pregame introductions, special Bob Scott prayer, and Michele Gress photos.  The Ceremony

BWhite named Kyli Jackson the BWhite Player of the game with a shoutout to Taylor James. We pretty much held the Stags at bay, and they seemed fine with accepting a tie.

The Stags should do damage again in the 4A Playoffs as it will be hard to see anyone knocking them off. They have hung with the best in the city all year. They have a goal scorer, a good midfield and a nice defense. And they are well-coached. We wish them well.

As for us, we have got to find a way to generate more offense and to finish those opportunities we do create. Today, we could have used a little more urgency—maybe a lot more. The day off of school for 3 of our classes did us no favors.

Kelsey Coulter made her varsity debut in the second half. She played well enough in those 4 minutes to get some more opportunities.

We now stand 8-6-1.
